Sponsor a Dog

Would you like to sponsor a dog?

Some of our "Adorable Adoptables", although somewhat elderly, still have a zest for life and are in reasonably good health for their age.  Sadly, these animals are rarely adopted to permanent homes because people tend to shy away from older dogs.  Perhaps it is the fear of adopting --and then losing -- that makes this a common situation all across America.  However, we firmly believe that the joy of providing a loving home for a senior dog far outweighs the sorrow at it's passing.

Twinkle Toes is so handicapped but never is anything but happy and
loving. She is most likely a teenager, and looks like a tiny white
beagle. She is blind , deaf, and has deformed feet. However she can get
around my house without a problem and if she wishes to will go down the
doggie ramp into the dog yard. She loves to be petted or snuggle up next
to one of her doggie friends. She sleeps most of the time now but comes
wide awake when it is time to eat. I always crate the rescue dogs to
feed them and she will inhale her food and serenade me with pitiful
beagle howls until she is let loose and then does her job of licking
all the other dogs bowls clean. I just adore her and so does anyone who
has met her. She will usually wander into the living room when anyone
comes to look at an adoptable dog. If I go out to the store she is
always right by the front door to greet me when I return. She is truly
amazing I think.

Maggie is a precious ancient Poodle mix who came from another rescue.  She is mostly blind and deaf, but gets around just fine.  Maggie had a malignant tumor removed before coming here, but we have not received her vet records yet, so we are unsure of her status.  She is very independent, does not wish to be a "shut in" and will look for an out of the way place to to take her naps.  When she first arrived she would hide which made it fun to find her and since she is deaf she can't hear me calling her.  Maggie is comfortable here and will not be available for adoption.

Misty is not for adoption but could really use a sponsor. She is sixteen years old and spent her life chained to a dog house in her owners back yard. The tips of her ears have been eaten of by flies she is skin and bones. Her owner became ill and obviously she hasn't been fed lately. A neighbor did start taking food to her and got her owner to turn her over to a kind rescue person who brought her to me. Misty has been at my vets last week getting fluids, antibiotics to help a severe urinary infection and meds for her arthritis. Her kidneys are not great but the rest of her blood work was not bad. I would just like her to have whatever time is left for her to know what it is like to be loved , warm, dry and any amount of whatever food she will eat. When she has no quality of life she will humanly pts. She loves to go down to my barn with me and follows me around the house sleeping most of the day. UPDATE: Misty is eating and moving around better and seems to be enjoying living life relieved of her chain. She is a sweet loving dog and I just hope she will continue to go on as she is now for a few more months at least. More update Misty has finally gained a little weight and is getting around much better. I just added a more recent photo She loves to get attention and to go on slow walks. She is a wonderful dog.
